Registered Children's Nurse (RCN)
A nurse who is registered as a nurse (RNID/RPN/RGN) with An Bord Altranais may apply for the twelve month programme in children’s nursing.
The intake is in the Autumn of each year and there are 85 places.
Successful completion of the course entitles the student to apply for registration with An Bord Altranais (RCN) and the award of a Higher Diploma from the relevant HEI.
The HEIs in association with the schools of nursing offering the Children’s Nursing programmes are:
DCU and Children's University Hospital, Temple Street (September 2006 to September 2011 ) 35 places
TCD and Adelaide & Meath Hospital inc The National Children's Hospital (Sept 06 to Sept 11) 15 places
UCD and Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin (September 2006 to September 2011) 35 places
