CATEGORY II AN BORD ALTRANAIS APPROVAL
Category II approval is applied to a wide range of courses, including specialist courses, but excluding courses leading to registration with An Bord Altranais.
The process is based on a systematic review of the curriculum structures, processes and outcomes, by An Bord Altranais.
When submitting a course for approval, the following information is required:

Copy of award
The course is considered by the Education and Training Committee of An Bord Altranais. The decision may be to grant approval with/without conditions and recommendations or refuse approval.
A copy of the approved report is sent to the applicant institution.
Unless otherwise stated, course approval usually applies for five years from the date of approval, following which re-application is necessary.
